On 28 July 2024, a study about migrants in Morocco was presented. The study was carried out by a team of young activists from the Union Marocaine du Travail (UMT), supported by the Solidarity Centre office in Morocco. A working group was also set up specifically for workers and activists from sub-Saharan Africa.
Morocco has changed from being a country of origin to a country of transit for migrants and is experiencing an increase in the number of migrant workers, mainly from sub-Saharan Africa and East Asia. This phenomenon presents challenges and opportunities for the country to address in accordance with human rights and international law.
The study describes the current legislative, institutional and statistical situation, focusing on the various actors in the field.
The 50-page study is available in Arabic.
